(Bill W) May 4, 2010 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will be ready for some short track action when they hit the Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois this Friday night, May 7. This will mark the series’ twelfth official visit to the banked ¼ mile oval in their history.
In 2008, Jerrod Hull, the Sprint Invaders co-leader in career feature wins became the first and only repeat winner at Jacksonville Speedway in the eleven visits contested by the series. Other winners have included Joey Montgomery, Terry McCarl, Tim Montgomery, Jesse Giannetto, Robbie Standridge, “Showtime” Kaley Gharst, Josh Schneiderman, CJ Houseman and Russ Hall.
In 2009, CJ Houseman picked up his first career sprint car win at Jacksonville in August, while Russ Hall claimed $3,000 in prize money and bonuses to best the field in the Herb Barlow Memorial in September.
Thirty cars were in attendance for the series’ opener on Saturday, April 17 at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Jerrod Hull was followed to the line by “Flyin'” Ryan Jamison, Jim Moughan Jr., Gharst and Knoxville’s Jon Agan. Two-time and defending Sprint Invaders champion, “Lil’ Dude” Bobby Mincer, had to go through the B main, but surged to a sixth place finish in the main event.
Friday’s event will have added local flavor with 19 year old 2009 Winged Outlaw Warrior Champion Josh Fisher piloting the familiar Jacksonville-based Northrop #83.
Grandstands will open at 5 p.m., with adult general admission seats going for $15. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. For more information, visit www.JacksonvilleSpeedway.com!
