Note: Full results from all classes will be posted when they become available.  In the meantime, here is a recap of the Sprint Invader’s portion of the show from the Invaders’ Bill W.  It was a great night of action in all classes with good car counts, lots of fans and good racing.

(Bill W) May 7, 2010 – Jerrod Hull swept the evening’s events at the Jacksonville Speedway on Friday, May 7, and in so doing put himself atop the all-time feature winners’ list with the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders. The win in the 25-lap feature marked the fourteenth in his career with the series, and his third such win at the Jacksonville Speedway.

Hull’s win was well-earned as three lead changes had fans on the edge of their seats.  Matt Sutton started outside row one and grabbed an early lead after the initial start saw pole-sitter Joe Beaver get into the turn one wall. He would restart at the tail. Hull moved past Kaley Gharst into second on lap two, but the pass was negated when the caution came out for Mike Hess, who had spun in turn four.

A lap after the restart, another Hull pass was negated. He had slid under both Gharst and Sutton to move into the lead, but a stoppage for a fourth running Josh Fisher, put the kibosh on that one. Finally, Hull found his way by Sutton on lap four.

As the pair approached lapped traffic on lap eight, Sutton found rubber in the middle groove and shot back by for the lead. Traffic again became a factor on lap 21, with Sutton’s car tightening up. Hull pounced on the opportunity and squeezed by Sutton to take the lead for good. “He inched up just enough,” said Hull. “I was able to get by him. I didn’t know if I would be able to get it done. He was a little quicker to find the rubber early on. Matt ran a good race.”

One last caution came about when Joey Moughan spun and collected CJ Houseman with two laps to go. The restart didn’t affect the outcome. “The traffic helped us early on, but then hurt us in the end,” said Sutton. “To be competitive and as good as we were with Jerrod Hull at Jacksonville is a good thing in my book.”

Ryan Jamison registered his second straight podium finish with a third place showing. “We had success early coming off of four high,” he said. “I saw (Chris) McGraw signaling Sutton by rubbing his belly, and that meant the middle to me. That’s where we went, and that’s where the rubber was. You just had to hit your marks and that’s what it was.”

Ben Wagoner ran a strong race to finish fourth, while Jim Moughan Jr. completed the top five as hard-charger, after winning the B main. Justin Parrish registered sixth, ahead of Manny Rockhold, Fisher, Donnie Steward and Hess. Hull’s sweep included heat race and shake-up dash wins. Kaley Gharst, who suffered a broken throttle linkage in the feature, and Sutton were other heat winners.

Bobby Mincer suffered a scary crash in his heat race. He was talking to paramedics before being taken to a local care facility.
