ILMO Propane “Brings The Heat” this opening Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway with a Sprint Car/Late Model double-header featuring the Season Opener for both the Midwest Open Wheel Association 410 winged sprints and the Big 10 Super Late Models. Also in action will be UMP Modifieds and Street Stocks.
Although ILMO Propane signed on as title sponsor for the season opener some time ago, with slightly colder than average temps currently in the Friday forecast, there couldn’t be a more fitting sponsor to make sure that the night goes forward as planned. ILMO has agreed to literally “bring the heat” with propane heaters keeping our common areas, concession, bar and a few warming stations comfy and cozy.
It appears that the MOWA opener is going to attract one of the largest and deepest fields the Speedway has seen in a number of years with several nationally recognizable names having expressed interest along with our very stout field of MOWA regulars defending their home turf, including two time and defending MOWA champion Jerrod Hull.
The Big 10 Late Model Series returns to action in Central Illinois in 2013 with Jacksonville, Lincoln and Macon Speedways having put together a $5,000 point fund for the 10 race series. The series will count a driver’s best 8 out of 10 races in determining season points to allow for unexpected circumstances and a points battle deeper into the season. The late model show will pay $1,200 to win and $150 to start and will run with a passing points format.
Our UMP Modifieds and Street Stocks will also be in action featuring our very strong contingent of weekly racers. For our Modified, Street Stock and Hornet classes, Jacksonville Speedway is posting a season long double bonus which will double the check for any driver in these three classes on his second win in a row. If a modified wants to race for $1000 to win next week, all you have to do is win your feature this week. Street stock two-in-a-row’s will be worth $500 and Hornets $200. Make your own special all season at Jacksonville Speedway – just win a race.
Pit gates will open early at 3:00, Pill draw closes at 6:00, driver’s meeting at 6:00, hot laps at 6:15 and racing at 7:00.
Grandstands open at 5:00. Grandstand tickets $20 with children 12 and under free.
