Passing Point System

The Modifieds and Sprint cars race for points in their heat races to determine lineups for later events.

Effective This Week: Any car arriving late ( after the pill draw closes) will start in the back of a heat race  and will earn position points only, no additional points for advancing positions will be awarded.

The full passing point system is outlined below,  but in essence cars are given a certain number of points based on their finishing position, and then an additional 5 points for each position they moved forward in the heat.  1.5 points are deducted for each position they lose in the heat.

The base points for each finishing position are as follows:

1st – 100 pts
2nd – 93 pts
3rd – 86 pts
4th – 79 pts
5th – 72 pts
6th – 65 pts
7th – 58 pts
8th – 51 pts
9th – 44 pts
10th – 37 pts
11th – 30 pts
12th – 23 pts

For example, a car that starts 4th in the heat and finishes 1st will receive a total of 115 points (100 for finishing 1st, and 15 for advancing 3 positions.)   A car that starts 3rd in the heat and finishes 6th will recieve 60.5 pts. (65 for finishing 6th minus 4.5 pts for losing 3 positions)

Here is a complete table of total points awarded based on starting and finishing positions.  Again, this only applies to Sprint car and Modified heat races.
