Jacksonville Speedway is scheduled to kick off a new era and the 2010 racing season this Friday night April 30th.  Pit gates open at 4:45, Grandstands at 5:00, Hot Laps at 6:30 with racing starting at 7:00.  Opening night will feature Open Winged Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Sportsman and Pony Stocks.  Grandstand admission is $12, with children 12 and under free. Pit passes are $25.

For the past month since getting possession of the facilities, Bobby, Cathy and crew have been working around the clock to get things ready for the start of the season.  Totally remodeled concession areas, a new scorer’s & flag stand, fresh paint and many more improvements will be ready for opening night with work continuing throughout the season.

The only remaining obstacle to opening this Friday night is mother nature.  Having re-graded the track and without the ability to work it for much of the past week due to constant bad weather, it’s going to take a couple of dry days before Friday to get the track in racing condition.  Assuming that can happen, fans and drivers are in for a fun and exciting night of racing at the new and improved Jacksonville Speedway this Friday night.

Also this week we will be putting finishing touches on some changes to our website and communication with our fans and drivers.  If you use Twitter, you can follow our updates through our Twitter account: JaxSpeedway.  We will have the driver profiles that have been submitted online very soon as well.  If you haven’t submitted yours, please do so here.  We will also have an email newsletter and notification system to alert you to news, cancellations, changes and special events.

It’s time to kick off a new year at Jacksonville Speedway.  Come and be a part of it!
