This Friday night, the Midwest Open Wheel Association 410 winged sprint cars return to Jacksonville Speedway for their third appearance this season. With the MOWA points battle heating up heading into the final 6 races of the season, fans can expect some intense action as every position will impact the race for the MOWA championship.

Currently, 2011 champion Jerrod Hull holds a slim 35 point lead over 2010 Jacksonville track champion AJ Bruns. Veteran Jim Moughan sits third in MOWA points after a successful Sprint Week in July, but is just 4 points ahead of Korey Weyant and 23 points ahead of Ben Wagoner in fifth.

Friday night will also see the Speedway family come together to honor veteran Jacksonville racer Craig Anders, who passed away last week. Craig began racing at Jacksonville Speedway in 1979 and continued to do so through his last race on August 3rd of this year. Everyone who knew Craig viewed him as a tough competitor, great sportsman and friend to everyone during the three decades he spent racing at the Speedway.

In Craig’s memory the track will have a Street Stock dash on Friday night with donations of $55 (Craig’s car number) continuing to roll in. Half of the money donated will be paid to the racers in the tribute dash and the other half donated to the Anders family to help cover expenses. It should be a great tribute to one of the nicest people to visit the pits each and every Friday. Drivers will also be passing their helmets during intermission to raise additional money for the Anders family, so if possible perhaps bring a few extra dollars to the track Friday.

Also in action on Friday will be Hornets and 600cc Micros.
